Christmas 2020: 5 ideas to celebrate without thinking about Covid

So yes you know that this Christmas 2020 will not be the same as in other years: a carefree day to spend time with loved ones and unwrap some gifts, also because many will not be able to meet their families, or even worse are going through a very long period. difficult both emotionally and economically.

But there are also ways to try to spend this day a little more in the normal way and maybe for a day forget the dreaded word “Coronavirus”, in the end we don’t all deserve it a bit?

So let’s see how to put aside this period of lockdown, confusion and sadness even for a few hours.

5 ideas to celebrate Christmas even if Covid still exists among us

1) Spending time outdoors

Easter is usually the ideal time for a picnic, but let’s not forget that even the virus is more difficult to contract outdoors (- assuming all necessary precautions). Depending on the area where you live, you may be able to meet someone and maybe take a nice walk outdoors and toast with a glass of Prosecco and a slice of panettone.

2) Relax at home and postpone Christmas

And if with this Covid we could take a break from Christmas? Let’s not hide it and let’s not forget it, Christmas is a period of stress and frenzy that often makes us get exhausted the same day. So why not have a “low key” Christmas as they say in English? That is, a low-key Christmas, perhaps considering this day as a Sunday and staying home to relax. Doesn’t sound that bad, does it? And then it will be possible to establish a day even in spring to celebrate a late Christmas with the family.

3) Celebrate with distant relatives

Even if, as we have said, the danger of contagion is close to all of us, that does not mean that we cannot virtually contact and visit our relatives and friends. How to do? Simple, just organize a call on Skype or Zoom and then do everything you would have done in presence, for example, unwrap the gifts that you have exchanged and delivered (without seeing each other if not allowed) and then eat all together.

4) Take time for yourself

Of course, Christmas is the right time to be with the family, but also, why not, to take care of yourself and do the things you’ve never had time to do. Maybe this Christmas gives you the right opportunity to make new projects and think about how to change your future. And therefore, especially if you can’t see friends or relatives, this is the right time to be alone for a while and organize the future or maybe do all those things and chores that you didn’t have time to do.

5) Dedicate yourself to others

This is perhaps the best advice for Christmas, in the end, at this time of the year we should all be better and how are you or how have you been? If you haven’t done much for others this year, you can spend this day helping charities or donating, or looking for ways you could help others. And if there is something that this Covid has really taught us, it is the importance of solidarity, isn’t it?
